Chiropractic Adjustments
Many of the discomforts we feel often arise from restricted movement in your spine or extremities. At Jepsen Chiropractic Wellness Center, the doctors are experts in addressing these issues through Chiropractic adjustments, also sometimes referred to as Chiropractic manipulations. These terms essentially mean the same thing: a targeted application of force to a specific joint to improve its motion and function.

Both Dr. Andrew Jepsen and Dr. Megan Jepsen graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic - Florida, a prestigious institution renowned for its "Palmer Package" technique. This comprehensive approach equips them with a vast toolbox of adjusting styles. They don't believe in a "one-size-fits-all" approach!
During your visits, they'll perform a thorough examination, including palpating your spine and joints to identify areas of restriction. These restrictions can develop from everyday wear and tear, sports injuries, poor posture, or repetitive motions. By restoring proper movement to these restricted joints through a tailored chiropractic adjustment, the doctors can potentially relieve pain, improve flexibility, and enhance your overall well-being.

Chiropractic Adjustments
(Spinal and Extremities)
Chiropractic Adjustments: Using a gentle thrusting or pushing motion, the doctors will aim to improve the motion of your spinal joints or extremity joints. This can potentially reduce pain, improve flexibility, and enhance overall function.

Assisted
Adjusting
Instrument Assisted Adjustments: This utilizes a handheld device like the Activator or Arthrostim to deliver a precise, controlled thrust to specific joints in the spine. This gentle approach can be a good option for patients who are nervous about traditional manual adjustments, have certain medical conditions, or experience discomfort with manual techniques. The instrument delivers a quick, targeted impulse, often with minimal discomfort, promoting improved joint mobility and potentially reducing pain.
Cervical & Lumbar
Traction
Cervical & Lumbar Traction: This non-surgical treatment uses gentle traction and positioning to create a separation between your spinal vertebrae. This can help relieve pressure on pinched nerves, bulging discs, and facet joints in your neck (cervical) or lower back (lumbar) regions, potentially reducing pain and improving flexibility.
Intersegmental Traction Roller Table
Roller Table: The intersegmental traction table utilizes a comfortable, rolling surface to gently create space between your spinal vertebrae. This can help relieve pressure on pinched nerves and promote relaxation in your back muscles. Here at Jepsen Chiropractic Wellness Center, we often combine intersegmental traction with acupuncture for an even more powerful treatment experience. While the acupuncture needles work, the traction table provides gentle, overall back relaxation, maximizing the benefits of both therapies.
Active Care
(Exercises & Stretches)
Active Care: Active Care involves creating a personalized program designed to address your specific needs. We'll identify areas of weakness and tightness, then create targeted exercises and stretches to strengthen what needs support and loosen what's causing tension. This proactive approach empowers you to take an active role in your recovery and overall well-being, promoting long-term health and helping to prevent future issues.
Shockwave
Therapy
Shockwave Therapy: This uses low-energy sound waves delivered through a handheld device to target specific areas of your body. The potential benefits of shockwave involve stimulating healing, improving blood flow, and reducing pain in soft tissues like muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization
(IASTM) / Gua Sha
These techniques use specialized tools to improve function and reduce pain in your muscles, fascia (connective tissue), tendons, and ligaments. IASTM utilizes a small, smooth-edged instrument to apply controlled pressure to targeted areas.
Gua Sha, a traditional Chinese medicine technique, uses a smooth-edged tool to glide across the skin's surface.
Both techniques aim to break up scar tissue, improve blood flow, and promote healing, potentially reducing pain and stiffness and restoring mobility.
Myofascial Release: This manual therapy technique focuses on releasing tension and restrictions in the fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds your muscles and organs. Improved flexibility, pain relief, and enhanced range of motion are some of the potential benefits of myofascial release. The doctors may perform this in a variety of ways: ischemic compression, receptor-tonus technique, post-isometric relaxation, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, or pin & stretch.
Passive
Stretching
Passive Stretching: This is a technique where an individual is stretched by the doctor without actively contributing to the range of motion. This method is particularly beneficial for improving flexibility and promoting relaxation. By lying on a table and allowing a trained professional to perform the stretches, patients can experience a deep level of stretch and relaxation without the need to engage their muscles actively.
Cupping
Cupping: This involves placing professional cups on your skin to create suction. Improved blood flow, pain relief, and loosening of tight muscles are some of the potential benefits of cupping therapy.
Kinesio Taping
Taping: This is a therapeutic technique that involves applying elastic tape to the skin to enhance physical function. The key effects and benefits include pain relief, swelling reduction, improved mobility and enhance circulation. Overall, kinesiology taping is a versatile tool in injury management and performance enhancement.
