At Jepsen Chiropractic Wellness Center, Inc., we believe in an evidence-based approach to healing, using the motion palpation process to ensure precise care to improve overall mobility and function. When you first visit our clinic, you’ll begin by filling out paperwork to help us understand your general health and specific concerns. This allows us to get a clear picture of your health history and pain points.
1. Initial Consultation and Examination:
Your initial appointment will begin with a consultation, where the doctor will discuss your medical history and current pain points. We see everything from headaches, neck pain, low back pain all the way to foot discomfort or pain. Head to toe services. The appointment will be goal focused to get you to the wellness phase. Some goals include keeping up with your kids, being able to garden comfortably or working pain-free. After we group together goals, this will be followed by a hands-on examination to determine the source or root-cause of your discomfort and assess if chiropractic care is right for you.
2. Treatment Plan:
The treatment plan will be tailored to your specific needs. Here's a general outline:
Acute Pain: If you're experiencing acute pain, you may benefit from multiple adjustments within the first week, with adjustments gradually decreasing as you progress.
Chronic Pain: Similar to acute pain, a chronic pain treatment plan will involve multiple appointments in the initial weeks, with adjustments tapering off as you improve.
3. The Importance of Consistent Care:
Think of chiropractic care like going to the gym; results take time and consistency. While you may experience immediate pain relief after the initial adjustment, multiple sessions are necessary for long-term improvement. The goal is to reach a state of minimal to no pain within two to three weeks, but even then, continued care is encouraged.
4. Achieving Wellness:
"Wellness" is unique to each individual. Within two to three weeks, many patients experience minimal to zero pain. But the journey doesn’t stop there! To ensure lasting wellness, we encourage patients to continue treatment even when they feel better. Everyone’s wellness journey is unique—some may need weekly adjustments, while others come in once a year.
5. Additional Treatment Options:
To enhance your treatment plan and expedite your progress towards wellness, Dr. Megan Jepsen or Dr. Andrew Jepsen may recommend incorporating additional therapies for non-invasive pain relief alongside Chiropractic adjustments. Here's a brief explanation of some of these options:
Lumbar or Cervical Traction: A gentle stretching mechanical technique that can help relieve pain and increase overall range of motion.
IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization): A targeted therapy that uses specialized tools to break down scar tissue and improve soft tissue mobility.
Cupping: A non-invasive technique that utilizes specialized cups to improve circulation and promote healing.
Active Care: Exercises or stretches prescribed by the Chiropractor to stretch the muscles that are tight and strengthen the muscles that are weak.
Passive Stretching: Stretching techniques performed by the Chiropractor to improve flexibility and range of motion.
Intersegmental Roller Table: A motorized table that provides distraction and mobilization to the spine.
Shockwave Therapy: A non-invasive treatment that uses sound waves to accelerate tissue repair and reduce pain.
Myofascial Release: A focused massage technique that targets fascia (connective tissue) to improve mobility and relieve pain.
Kinesio Taping: The application of elastic therapeutic tape to provide support, improve circulation, and promote pain relief.
Acupuncture – Localized or for clearing out meridians.
